Family of Deceased Man v. National Trucking Company - $1,800,00 Settlement Paid to Survivors
CK&C obtained $1,800,000 for the bereaved surviving mother of a man who was crushed and killed by a semi-truck.
On a quiet morning in November 2020, a 55 year-old man was crossing a southern California intersection within a crosswalk when he was crushed by a right-turning semi-truck. He suffered ruptured femoral arteries, an “open book” pelvic fracture, and a panoply of other catastrophic injuries. He was transported to LAC+USC but ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
Although initially thought to be a transient individual because of his unemployment and lack of identification, CK&C worked tirelessly to understand the decedent’s life journey and his relationship with his surviving mother and brother. These efforts culminated in an out-of-state trip to visit the bereaved family to interview and memorialize their loved one.
CK&C carefully and compassionately assembled all of these materials and presented them in an organized manner that led to an unusually early and substantial settlement, leaving the family with a sense of recognition and justice for their suffering.
